Hiring Process for Field Employees

  • Receive and review resume, references and drivers abstract, if applicable.
  • In reviewing qualifications, regard should be had to Tribal North’s obligation to give preference to its First Nation Partners and to their members for employment opportunities on their Reserve and in their Traditional Territories.  In addition, Tribal North is further obligated to give preference to the members of the Founding First Nation Partners general employment opportunities.
  • Based on above review, interview to be conducted by the General Manager and/or Operations Manager.
  • If acceptable provide potential employee with offer letter contingent on obtaining a negative drug and alcohol test, or other satisfactory evidence of compliance with Tribal North’s Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy.
  • For drivers and swampers, Operations Manager to evaluate individual qualifications in the context of Tribal North’s Commercial Vehicle Safety and Maintenance Program.
  • Operations Manager to document areas of deficiency and put in place a training program to build the necessary competencies.
  • All drivers and swampers must have the following certificates and training:
    • H2S alive
    • First Aid and CPR for oil field workers
    • WHIMIS
    • TDG
    • IRP 16
    • Industry recognised driver safety program
    • Familiarity with Tribal North’s Safety Manual
  • All of the foregoing certificates and training are to be provided by Tribal North.
  • Every 3-6 months Operations Manager will evaluate all drivers and swampers and report findings to General Manager.
